{"id":3716,"date":"2023-06-19T07:47:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-19T07:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2023\/?p=3716"},"modified":"2023-07-01T07:48:55","modified_gmt":"2023-07-01T07:48:55","slug":"art-music-drama-and-more-at-romsey-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2023\/press-releases\/art-music-drama-and-more-at-romsey-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Art, music, drama and more at Romsey Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The 2023 Romsey Festival is fast approaching, running&nbsp;from Saturday July 1&nbsp;until the 16th.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Flag-2021-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3717\" srcset=\"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Flag-2021-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Flag-2021-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Flag-2021-75x50.jpg 75w, https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Flag-2021.jpg 962w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Romsey Festival in 2021, committee members Liz Wagner and Mark Edgerley<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Held every three years, the festival is a celebration of Romsey\u2019s rich history, culture and talents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Events ranging from art, music, drama and more will be set up across the town centre and surrounding area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The opening day of the festival holds an Ed Sheeran tribute from performer Christy Bullen at the Plaza Theatre from 7.30pm, as well as a performance from Romsey choral society with City of Southampton Orchestra at the Abbey also at 7.30pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The opening service isn\u2019t until the following day on Sunday&nbsp;July 2 at 6.30pm&nbsp;at the Abbey United Reformed Church. At 12 noon&nbsp;the same day Mayor\u2019s Picnic, a new addition to the festival, will be held at War Memorial Park. Individuals and families can enjoy an afternoon\u2019s entertainment with groups playing on the bandstand, stalls, and activities organised by the Rotary Club of Romsey Test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guided walks around the historic centre of Romsey will be held on Monday July 3 at 7pm, Wednesday July 5&nbsp;at 10am&nbsp;and Thursday&nbsp;July 13, 2pm. The walks are guided by members of the Romsey local history club and last about one hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A recital of piano music by Ivan Hovorun will be performed on Tuesday July 4 at 1pm&nbsp;at the Abbey. The following evening at 7.30pm&nbsp;a solo classical guitar recital by Nina Rideout will be performed at Abbey United Reformed Church. She has previously performed at The National Gallery and in County Hall London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival Gala concert takes place on Saturday July 8 at 7.30pm, the Southampton Concert Orchestra will perform at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. Conducted by Paul Ingram and featuring music from Elgar, Parry, Coates, Tchaikovsky, John Williams and many more it\u2019s promised to be a fantastic evening of music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mayflower Ensemble summer concert, taking place on Monday&nbsp;July 10 at 7.30pm, is located at Abbey United Reformed Church.
