{"id":1546,"date":"2018-01-30T00:04:33","date_gmt":"2018-01-30T00:04:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/?p=1546"},"modified":"2019-06-30T17:14:40","modified_gmt":"2019-06-30T17:14:40","slug":"next-romsey-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/press-releases\/next-romsey-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Plans in place and date revealed for next Romsey Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1548 imgborder alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Mountbatten-School-Midsummers-Nights-Dream-2017-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Mountbatten-School-Midsummers-Nights-Dream-2017-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Mountbatten-School-Midsummers-Nights-Dream-2017.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It has become one of the staples of the town&#8217;s calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Plans have already begun for the next Romsey Festival following last year&#8217;s success.<\/p>\n<p>The committee has announced that the next event will be officially launched on July 3 2020, which will be followed by two weeks of community based art events, from music to street events.<\/p>\n<p>More than 40 groups have already committed to taking part in the nest festival, which others expected to confirm in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>Romsey Abbey\u00a0has also been announced as a venue to host some of the music, and the bells will also ring in the villages for what will be the 12th event.<\/p>\n<div id=\"inArticleAd-1\" class=\"advert-container\">Former chairman Dick Hewett has handed over the role to Liz Wagner for the 2020 event.<\/div>\n<p><div class=\"clearfix\"><\/div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1547 imgborder\" src=\"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Schools-Choir-Concert-2017-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Schools-Choir-Concert-2017-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Schools-Choir-Concert-2017.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Liz said: &#8220;Building on my involvement in previous festivals, I am proud to have been elected as chair of Festival 2020 and look forward to helping the community deliver the most amazing experience for our audiences and participants.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With a very talented committee we will build on the festival heritage and develop new ideas to delight and entertain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>New ideas are being explored, with poetry readings in cafes and street theatre, some of the ideas to be debated.<\/p>\n<p>The committee has appealed for Romsey residents to contribute to the idea process ahead of the event in two years.<\/p>\n<p>Romsey Town Centre Manager Mark Edgerley, said: &#8220;I am delighted to be part of the team enabling the 2020 Romsey Festival, as Town Centre Manager I understand this need to hold quality events that showcase Romsey, encouraging residents and visitors to explore our historic locations and enjoy the amazing talent we have within our community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1549 imgborder\" src=\"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Art-in-the-Park-2017-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Art-in-the-Park-2017-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/romseyfestival.org\/festival2021\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Art-in-the-Park-2017.jpg 427w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>The last event, which took place in July last year, saw streets lined with art and a variety of venues host talks during the week.<\/p>\n<p>Romsey Abbey, the Abbey United Reformed Church and Romsey Methodist Church all hosted exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p>The festival committee said: &#8220;Key to this festival being the best ever will be funding.
