A journey in Western sacred music beginning with early chant of the fourth century, Gregorian chant of the 6th – 8th centuries, tropes of the 10th century, and on to St Hildegard’s music and to the early French motets. From the 12th – 13th centuries to the Renaissance and beyond to 21st century settings of Geoffrey Chaucer, St J H Newman, and Gerard Manley Hopkins.
