A walking observation trail aimed at 5-11 year olds

An off-road walking trail for 5-11 year olds, starting and finishing at the Romsey Signal Box. Children will be given a questionnaire and a map to guide them round the trail, during which they will answer 20 questions. The trail will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes and will include a short stretch of the Barge Canal. Children who complete the trail will receive a certificate.

All children must be accompanied by an adult who will be responsible for their safety. There is no charge for this event, but admission charges will apply for those who wish to visit the Signal Box before or afterwards.  Pre-booking advised for timed slots, due to capacity limitations in the actual signal box with social distancing restrictions.  However access to the toilet and cafe at the signal box is free and does not need to be pre-booked.

The trail begins at Romsey Signal Box and follows the footpath to the Railway station forecourt (not the station platforms) and continues past the Poppy Memorial, under the bridge to the Barge Canal junction. Turning right, the trail will follow the Barge Canal path under a second railway bridge and back to the Signal Box.
