Online Beggars Fair

Saturday 10th July

Romsey’s Beggars Fair is going online on Saturday 10th July to give music-lovers a taste of the much-loved annual music festival whilst its live event remains on hold.

The online Showcase is expected to feature a number of regular Beggars Fair performers including Cinnamon Jazz, The Soul Catchers, Mary Jane and Sarah Saville.

The organisers decided earlier this year that the live event would have to be cancelled because of uncertainty about social distancing and other COVID restrictions. Instead they invited a selection of popular performers to provide music videos for a virtual Beggars Fair Showcase.

Their performances will be released free-of-charge that day via the Beggars Fair YouTube channel and remain available thereafter.  Further information and links to social media channels are available on the Beggars Fair website.

“We’re immensely grateful to these acts for supporting our Showcase so that people can at least get a flavour of Beggars Fair music,” said Beggars Fair chairman Delsia Bartlett. “There will be rock, jazz, folk and acoustic music – something for every taste, in fact, just like a normal Beggars Fair. “We can’t wait to start planning our live return in 2022 when people will be able to see musicians, dancers, story-tellers and the like back on the streets of Romsey.”

Many other regular performers at the Beggars Fair also have video and audio recordings available through their individual websites.

Beggars Fair acts will also support the Romsey Show on 11th September.
