Saturday 10th July, 10:30 – 16:30
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, arrangements for this year are different from those of previous festivals and all subject to Social Distancing requirements
A demonstration and display of the art of English bell ringing. Also known as Whole Circle ringing, this style was developed in this country from the early 1600s. It is rung in nearly 7,000 towers in England, 200 in Wales and in just over 100 in the rest of the world.
Our ringing chamber here at Lockerley is rather cramped so visitors will be very limited in number and we will require the wearing of face-masks. Due to the necessity of being in close proximity and the impossibility of sanitising the ropes it will not be possible to offer, as we have in previous years, the chance to try ringing a bell
Outside the church the Lockerley Mechanical Society will have a gathering of classic cars, and hopefully will be able stage a display of some of their activities within the church.
Free event; no tickets required.
