Something special brewing for the Festival!

Categories: Press releases

Romsey residents will be able to toast the success of the Romsey Festival with a bottle of a special brew from Flack Manor Brewery.  Working with the Romsey Festival committee, the Brewery has produced a special Romsey Festival Brew 17.

This is described as “A pale refreshing golden ale bursting with the aromas of summer using only English hops from the revered classic Goldings to the hedge row varieties of First Gold and Cascade, complimented by English Chinook, giving a rounded citrus grapefruit flavour with a smooth integrated bitterness.”

Flack Manor Managing Director Nigel Welsh said: “We’re delighted to be working with the Romsey Festival by producing this special brew.  At 4.5% alcohol by volume, it will be the perfect festival partner.

“We are also delighted to be offering a special Romsey Festival brewery tour on Thursday 6th July, from which we shall be making a donation to Jane Scarth House.  Tickets are now available – you’ll need to book soon, as numbers are strictly limited!  It will be a great chance to see where the Romsey Festival Brew 17 has been produced.”

Festival Chairman Dick Hewett said: “We’re so pleased to have Flack Manor involved in the Festival in this unique way.  There has been a long tradition of brewing in Romsey and a special brew to celebrate the Festival is a fitting initiative.”

Beer is not the only example of food and drink in the Festival.  For the second festival in succession, Naz’s Indian and Bangladeshi Restaurant is mounting a gourmet evening on Monday 3rd July, with instruction in the preparation of a traditional Indian meal, followed by a chance to sample the results.

Each day between 10am and 4pm throughout the Festival, Daisy Cakes Pop-Up Café will be in operation in the South Garth of Romsey Abbey.

Information about all the Festival events is available on the Festival website –  Tickets for the Brewery Tour and Naz’s gourmet evening are available through the website and from Romsey Tourist Information Centre (01794 512987).
